If you have XP on the netbook, you will have to google and download a UDF 2.5/2.6 driver (sometimes you can use one from another company like Toshiba). Vista supports it natively.
If you're talking about playing Blu-ray movies, that's another matter entirely. Many blu-ray drives (including this one) do not come with software to play movies and the ONLY alternative is to buy expensive ($80+) software from Cyberlink or a few other select companies. The blu-ray codec is not free or cheap, so there may never be free blu-ray movie playing software or native Windows Media Player support. The way blu-ray was licensed and released is silly AND counter-productive to proliferating the technology.
