Since the merger is complete, or nearly, will this Verizon Phone, work as a purchased replacement for my wife's Alltel LG Slide, as a part of our 5 phone Family Network, formerly on Alltel?

I mean it is called refurbished cuz somebody need open it to unlock or this phone is used?
